Cichlids in the Rio Puerto Viejo: Archocentrus septemfasciatus

Archocentrus septemfasciatus is the smallest cichlid in the river. It is a close relative of the convict cichlid, Archocentrus nigrofasciatus. Convict cichlids are found in the river, but are very rare whereas Ar. septemfasciatus is relatively abundant.
